PREFACE

       Situated in the central area of Shandong Province ,ZhouCun. covering a total area of 263 square kilometers with a population of 150,000.In 2000,the GDP of ZhouCun District reached RMB 6.4 billion yuan.

       With favorable investment environment , ZhouCun is a n important hub of communications in Shandong Province with the Jinan-Qingdao Railway ,the Jinan-Qingdao expressway and No.309 National Highway running across the district .Three hundred kilometers to the west of the district lies Qingdao harbor ,and only fifty kilometers to the east is located the Jinan International Airport .In 1991,as the first one in the province , ZhouCun successfully accomplished the program-controlled telephone communication both in urban and suburb areas with a total capacity of 130,000 sets .ZhouCun foreign-Oriented Industry Processing Zone is equipped with complete set of public utilities .With the Zone was established ZiBo Jiazhou Heat & power Co. ,Ltd. With a total capacity of 21,000 KW which will guarantee a smooth growth in economy .

       Being one of the twelve national silk export bases, the main textile base and famous distributing center of commodities in Shandong Province, ZhouCun was approved by the State Council as one of the open cities of Shandong Peninsula in 1986.Till now, there are 89 joint ventures , cooperative ventures and wholly foreign-funded ventures established in the district with foreign investment of US$ 150 million .The government of ZhouCun District established offices and companies respectively in Tokyo, Moscow, Hong Kong , UAE and USA. In 1992, the Provincial government approved the set-up of ZhouCun Foreign-Oriented Industry Processing Zone, there are now 50 enterprises including more than 20 joint ventures ,cooperative ventures and wholly foreign funded ventures, which promotes the economy of ZhouCun District rapidly.
